Our Family Christmas 2012

Due to scheduling, we had our family Christmas on the morning on the 26th.  We got home at 10:00 on Christmas night and put the boys to bed.  Michael and I then stuffed the stockings and I had a few gifts left to wrap.
Finn woke up around 7:00 and hopped in bed with us.  He cuddled with me for another thirty (30) minutes before Sam started crying.  After Sam was up we took the boys downstairs to see what Santa Clause brought.  I was worried that the boys, specifically Finn, would be all Christmased out - but not so.  He was so excited.

This year Santa (a.k.a. mom and dad) brought Finn just what he wanted - little monster trucks.  He got "After Shock", "Monster Mutt", "Grave Digger" (along with a ramp play set) and "Bad News."

Santa also brought a "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" sword, a "Home Depot" tool box, and a "Jurassic Park" dinosaur (the one with the fans around its neck that scares Finn on the movie).  He also got a "Cars" bean bag chair.

Sam has shown a great interest in cars so we got Sam a "Mini Cooper" and a Hummer.  He spent the rest of his waking day driving them around on his knees.

Sam also got a "Pukey."

After we opened presents we realized that we didn't have any milk in the house so Michael and the boys went to get Christmas doughnuts and milk.  Finn got a chocolate one and picked a vanilla one out for me.  He asked if he could take a bite of my doughnut.  Realizing mine was better than his he asked me if we could share our doughnuts.  Mine really was way better.  I hated to give it up.

The boys spent the rest of the day playing with their new toys.  We made a ramp using one of the leaves from the table for Finn's monster trucks to race on.

Then it was time for naps.  Sam took a four and a half hour (4 1/2) nap - WHOA.  Finn's nap wasn't too shabby either, a couple of hours at least.  While the boys napped I made a quick trip to town and then cooked for our dinner get-together.

After they got up Finn sat on his beanbag chair and watched his new Veggie Tales movie.

Sam tried whole milk for the first time - he didn't care for it.  I tried to heat it up, but he wasn't interested at all.  Three more weeks buddy and you won't have a choice anymore.

We went to Gran and Pa's for supper.  Kim, Mark, Katie and Jake came too.  Finn plays really well with Katie.  They ran around together the whole time.  Finn was so sweet to her.  He brought her a plate of cookies into the living and then he brought her a piece of pizza.  He was so polite - the perfect little host. For dessert, Gran made peppermint milkshakes.  Finn said, "these are so so good."

The Begley Christmas

We left Christmas at Nana and Papa's house at 9:00 on Christmas morning and went to Gran and Pa's house.  When we hit Murfreesboro, Finn informs us that he needs to go to the bathroom.  We stop at the Pilot off exit 81.  The bathrooms had the automatic flushes - Finn hates those things - they scare him to death.  The first time Finn shifted his body, the toilet flushed and Finn told me that he didn't have to go potty anymore.  He is so funny to watch.  His eyes get big as golf ball and he covers his head with his hands.  Despite the scary toilet we had a success stop.  We got to Gran and Pa's house as scheduled at 10:30.

This year Finn helped Uncle David hand out the presents.  He did such a great job - he got a little restless near the end and decided that the wanted to open his presents.  Finn sat with Michael and we were separated by a mountain of presents and a sea of paper.  I know that he had a great time - but I just didn't get to see it all.  I sat with Sam and helped him open his presents.
Finn and Sam both received some great clothes.  Finn got a "Bat-mobile", a "Scooby-Doo" van, a big "Grave Digger" Monster truck, a "Cars" memory game, a "Cars" Mack truck, a road rug, a big dinosaurs, sharks and alligators from David and Sharon, and a recording art book from James and Chelsea.  Sam racked up as well.  He got a cars play set, a Mickey Mouse rider, I know that I have failed to mention some of the boys gifts.

 LOST

After we opened presents Gran served a great breakfast.  Finn ate a few biscuits and excused himself to play with his big trucks.  After breakfast Michael and I made a quick trip home to upload the car.  We are so blessed to have so many people that love our boys so much.  We couldn't even take all the boys' presents home from Gran's house because we filled to the brim with gifts from my family.

When we got back to Gran and Pa's we found Sam, Pa and Finn napping next to the tree.
Later that even we went to Clarksville to Mimi's house for her Christmas.   Uncle Charlie and Aunt Donna brought a platter of two dozen cookies for each family.  Finn was mesmerized.

The boys had a good time.  Finn wrestled with Uncle David, Sam danced with Aunt Sharon and they opened presents.  Sam got a teddy bear - the proceeds of which went to St. Judes and jammies.  Finn got a tractor trailer truck and a horse trailer complete with horses.  He also got a pair of jammies that matched Sam.

This is a picture of Sam bouncing on the dog bed.  This was the most fun I have ever seen him have.

We left around 9:00.  The weather was awful - it was so cold and so rainy.  The boys slept all the way home.

Christmas at Nana and Papa's

This year we spent Christmas Eve and Christmas morning at Nana and Papa's house.  We arrived at their house around noon.  Finn immediately started playing while I started preparing my dips for Christmas Eve dinner.  At 3:00 Michael and I made a quick trip to Sonic and then to Walgreens to buy stocking stuffers for the boys; let me just say that it is really difficult to buy stocking stuffers for a baby.   We got Finn some candy, a fart noise maker, a Scooby-Doo coloring book, and a Jurassic Attach monster truck.  Sam got food.

When we got back to the house Em, Zac and the boys had arrived.  Before having dinner Papa read the Christmas story to the boys.  The Christmas story was great - Mom had found a power point version online that was geared toward a younger audience. I have some really cute pictures but I am having a hard time uploading them.  I will try again when I have some more time tonight.

After a wonderful supper we all went upstairs to try to get the boys to sleeps.  Emily's children of course went to sleep without an issue.  Mine did not.  We turned Kung Fu Panda on for Finn to watch during wind down.  He watched the entire movie and still fussed when it was bedtime.  He finally went to sleep with Michael lying next to him.  Sam was all set to sleep on the air mattress but refused to go to sleep so we let him stay up with us.

The adults spent the rest of the night downstairs until it was time for bed.   Sam and I slept on the air mattress together.  Sam was up every thirty minutes.  He would let out one loud cry and then go immediately back to sleep.

The next morning I got up at 6:00 to get ready for the day.  Mom was already up preparing Christmas breakfast.  We got everyone else up at 7:00.  Finn was really excited to open his presents.

Much like everything else in his life, Finn is so serious about opening presents.  I think that he likes opening better than anything else.  Finn got some great gifts - he got a few books, a Veggie Tales movie, some cute long sleeved t-shirts, a monster truck, a dino-transformer, a dinosaur puzzle, a pair of "tough" shoes, .

Finn's big present from Nana and Papa was a new Mickey Mouse Bicycle.  He hasn't figured out how to peddle yet, but we are working on it.  He has already made good use of his "handlebars pack" - he carries his monster trucks around.

Sam had a great Christmas too - he also got some books, a learning turtle, a cute onsie outfit, a "Thumper" toy, a Veggie Tales movie, a baby light-up drum, and a Titan's onsie

Sam standing up!  He is getting really good and standing up and balancing for several minutes at a time.  He gets really proud of himself.
At this point you may be wondering if I am a single mom . . . just wait for it.

. . . there is he is; the Daddy that we all love so much.

After the boys opened their presents we we exchanged and opened ours.  As always we sat in a circle and opened one at a time.  I am so excited about my Christmas presents this year.  Together with my birthday money I am going to be able to get an IPad.  I also got a really pretty scarf, a jar spatula (which I love and have already used) hand towels, a great necklace as well as other great stocking stuffer gifts.

After we opened presents Nana took pictures of the boys in the wrapping paper while Michael and I packed up the car.  Sam loved it!!!

 Going, going, GONE!!!!

Thank you Nana and Papa for a wonderful Christmas! And thank you Nana for taking all these pictures.
