Where to begin?????

Image
I haven't blogged in while, so here goes. On Friday night we celebrated Uncle James' birthday. Finn had speghetti, bread and birthday cake. He was in good spirits and got to stay up a little past his bedtime. The next morning Michael and I got up and packed for a fun filled night in Tunica with our friends Brandon and Carissa. Finn spent the night with Gran and Pa (I will post pictures later). We got home on Sunday afternoon and spent the remainder of the night with Finn. Right before bedtime I realized that Finn didn't have his blanket so I decided to do a switcharoo. Even though it was just a "big" version of his beloved blanket Finn didn't buy it. For the past few nights Finn and I have shared a bowl of popcorn. He sits right next to me, lays his head on my shoulder and eats popcorn. It is really a wonderful moment. Usually it is right before bed and he is glued to Chess. Tonight he eating popcorn right next to me. He has his feet on the laptop and he is w...

Cardboard, No. . . .Fiber, Yes

Image
Be ye warned, these sweet, serene pictures of Finn are not accurate representations of our day. Today Finn had about 5 bowl movements (none of which were in the potty). It has to be all that Fiber One cereal we are giving him. I personally think that Fiber One is delicious, but I didn't think Finn would like it as much as he does. Today we were on the go all day. At 8:00 Finn and I was in the car headed for the courthouse. By 9:00 we were in Dr. Lee's waiting room. While there Finn found a "Veggie Tales" book - very exciting. He didn't let me read a word of it. Instead he just pointed to Bob and Larry on every page and yelled "BOB" and "LARRY" everytime. Once we went back to Dr. Lee's room I scanned the room for possible problems. I immediately spotted the instrument table; a short table that had about 25 perfectly situated and sterile instruments on top. About the same time Finn noticed the table, but I was quick enough to catch him befor...

Hats off to Single Moms

Michael seriously picks the absolute worst days to go out of town. Everytime he goes out of town we get tornado warnings. So at 5:00 last night Finn and I stocked the saferoom with Finn's stuff. For example, we threw blankets, cereal, books, big trucks and flashlight in there just in case we needed to make a mad dash. Thankfully, we didn't need to. At about 2:00 Finn woke up in a screaming fit. I went into his room to check on him and he started asking for apples and chess (his nighttime routine) instead I put him in bed with me. It only took him about 5 seconds to crawl up in my armpit and go right back to sleep. He must have slept great because he had a ton of energy the next morning. Prior to court I had to do a few administrative things. While my attention was on my email, Finn pillaged my room. First he spilled day old milk in my briefcase - so gross. Then he emptied my shredder. You should have seen my bedroom; it looked like vikings had come through. I have a deep respec...

Weekend with Grandad and Gigi

Image
This weekend, Finn spent some time with Grandad and Gigi. While there he fed the horses. Well, he gave Minnie grass to the feed the horses - he didn't want any part of feeding them himself. He sat in the road. Played with a stick . . . Nose dived straight into Buddy . . . Cheesed it up . . . Went to jail . . . Played cars with Grandad . . . Threw grass; a new favorite pasttime . . . And drove the Miata. On Saturday we met Grandad, Gigi and Finn at Logans in Gallatin to make the exchange. At first Finn didn't seem happy at all to see me, but as dinner wore on, he became super clingy and wouldn't let go of me. It was weird, but still sweet. On Sunday Finn spent lots of time in "timeout" for throwing things. One time I put him in timeout and went to get the broom. When I got back Finn wasn't in his corner and I didn't see him anywhere. As it turns it out he had gone into the bathroom and shut the door. The lights weren't on so it was pretty da...

Peanut Butter and Jelly

Image
Today (Thursday) Finn had his first peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He was very fond of it. It was a very messy event. I took entirely too many pictures, but I couldn't resist. The rest of the day was very busy. Finn went with me to visit a few of my younger clients. He was very well behaved and ended up playing with one of my clients toy cars. Then it was off to Tullahoma to spend the night at Grandad and Gigi's house. First we made a quick stop by Nana and Papa's house where Finn helped Papa in the yard. Once we got to Grandad and Gigi's Finn, Gigi and I went to Zaxby's for dinner. After dinner I went back home to Hendersonville. Finn was very excited to see me go.

Presents for Mama

Image
Today while I was upstairs writing a letter, Finn and Michael were outside getting a present for Mama. When they came back inside Michael called me to come downstairs telling me that Finn had something for me. As I was walking downstairs I heard Finn yelling for Mama. He looked so sweet holding a dandelion out for me. When I got to him he gave me the flower. It was so precious. I am also happy to report that Finn loves green vegetables. He isn't crazy about broccoli, but he loves green peas, lima beans and green beans. Last night for dinner he ate half a can of lima beans and begged for more. Tonight he ate a ton of green beans. Then he finished the rest of my fish. I am so happy that he is branching out. Finally, "timeout" is going really well. Even though he doesn't necessarily enjoy going to "timeout" he doesn't get up until I tell him he can. He tries his hardest to get me to smile. After I position him in his corner, I turn my back to him and ign...

The weekend

Image
This weekend, Finn discovered the "actual" use for the potty - the place where you go to read books. All weekend, Finn sat, naked as a jaybird, on his potty reading. He didn't "go" but he is certainly well read. Saturday was a spring cleaning day for me, meaning Finn watched a lot of Mickey Mouse while I washed walls and baseboards. He wants to help so bad, but really gets in the way. I hope he likes cleaning this much when he is actually old enough to help me. Plus he slipped on the wet floor and bumped his head. So cleaning and Finn don't really go together. On Sunday Finn did really great in the nursery. When we went to pick him up he was playing by himself with a toy mailbox. I love watching him play when he doesn't know that I'm watching. After church Michael and I went to the Gallatin High School's production of "Godspell." Finn went to the lake with Gran and Pa. He also ate watermelon! When we got home Finn and I played an impro...
