The "Finnster, et al."

On Tuesday Michael and I went to Foxland in Gallatin to the Christmas party with my new office.  I was nervous about going because I haven’t actually started the new job yet, but had a really good time. Later that night we went over to Gran and Pa’s house to help the boys build a gingerbread house.  Next we took the boys to Target to let them buy each other a present.  Finn bought Sam a Ryback figure and Sam bought Finn a Stardust.  They really enjoyed picking out presents for each other. On Wednesday afternoon we took Finn to the dentist.  Last week we noticed that Finn had a permanent tooth growing in behind (way behind) his baby tooth – so we took him to make sure that everything looked normal. Well, after three x-rays we learned Finn has an extra permanent tooth that will need to be surgically removed.  Finn was just glad that the dentist didn’t pull his loose tooth.  At this point his lose tooth is the least of his worries. ...

On Sunday morning the boys woke up early and watched Veggie Tales the Toy that Saved Christmas while I cooked for Granny's house.  On this episode of Veggies Tales they were talking about the baby Jesus' birth.  Sam got really excited and yelled, "A baby - that's what we're having!"  Finn, in his most condescending voice said, "Yes, but our baby won't be Christ the Lord."  Next we traveled to Sparta for Christmas with Granny Martha.  Finn and Hank checking their weight. Mom brought a birthday cake for Cooper too.  Finn and Sam wrestling at Granny's. We had a really great time!

On Saturday we met Em, Zac, Cooper, Hank and Quinn at the Adventure Science museum to celebrate Cooper's birthday.  I was surprised at how much fun I had.  The boys loved it! This is Finn and Sam lifting a car. Finn was pretty tired after he was done. We also climbed to the top of the building and looked out over the city. To get down Sam and I slid down a curly slide.  We did this about 4 times.  I have never seen Sam so excited about anything in my life!  Everything he said came out in an excited yell.  Michael and Finn doing the moonwalk. Killing germs with a laser gun. After leaving the museum we went to Chik-Fil-A for lunch and cookies. 

Yesterday on the way to school Finn asked me when we could go visit the cross.  I inquired, "THE cross?" And he confirmed that, yes, he wanted to visit Jesus' cross. I explained to him that the cross wasn't there anymore. Appalled that he couldn't make the pilgramage to Golgotha, he asked, "why?"  I told him that the government doesn't crucify people anymore.  Naturally, he asked what the government does do. I then explained the electric chair (which Finn has no concept of even after my brilliant explanation) and leathal injection (which made sense because he hates getting shots).  Every Kindergartener should be so lucky to have a mother who is lawyer. Then they too could discuss grisly ways to die on the way to school.  Next he was very curious about other punishments that fall short of the death penalty. We then went through the prison system and how that works. He was satisfied with my explanation, but was gravely concerned about the many, many es...
