Last Day in Reno

Image
Monday was my last full day in Reno.  I did not really do anything all day.  I confirmed my flight, blogged and watched some X Files. I also worked out and met Michael for lunch at Jimmy Johns. After Michael got back from class, we got dressed and went to Campo for dinner.  Dinner was really good, but Michael left his credit card in the room so we had to leave his wedding ring as collateral. After making good on our meal, we went to Starbucks for lattes. Michael posed with Ellen. These were taken in the lobby of our hotel. The next morning I caught the 8:00 shuttle to the airport.  Once through security I paid a few dollars for 20 minutes in one of those chair massages.  I looked ridiculous, but it was well worth it.  Once on the flight to Las Vegas, I learned that the President was also in Las Vegas so all planes were grounded until he took off. I only had a 40 minute layover, so I was really nervous that I would miss my fli...

Lazy Day in Reno

Image
On Sunday morning we woke up around 9:00.  I expected to be really sore, but I felt pretty good. Instead of hopping to it, I decided to lay in bed and watch a few minutes of HGTV (the only thing on). Then it was off to Chipotle for lunch (yes, we have eaten there 3 times).  During lunch we got the following picture messages from the boys. They asked that we send a picture back.  This is what we sent.  After lunch we took the car back to the rental place and then walked back to the hotel. Next we went down to the gym to workout.  We sent these pictures to the boys too. After working out we decided to go see a movie.  We saw quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen in the theater - American Ultra.   On the way home we stopped in a few novelty shops that looked like the perfect place to get murdered. Once back at the room we showered and went out for the evening.  First I got my picture taken on the enormous poker chi...

Fun Days with Gran

This is the in summary that I had with Finn and Sam while Michael and Erin were in Reno. Wednesday Erin didn't officially leave town until Thursday, but, she had a meeting Wednesday afternoon so I picked the boys up from school and we headed to Kroger to stock up for the upcoming week. As soon as we got in the door they both begged for one of the car shopping carts.I didn't think that they could both fit in it, but they squeezed in and had a blast shopping for things they wanted me to buy. Occasionally, they would hop out to sample something, then hop right back in the car. Sam was very particular about wearing his seat belt at all times and would unfastened it to get out, then refasten it when he got back in,it was so cute ! When we got to the check out, they each got a helium balloon. This is a picture I took in the parking lot.

Mt. Tallac

At 6:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, Michael and I hopped in the car and headed for Lake Tahoe. Our destination - North Lake Tahoe to hike Mt. Tallac.   We stopped at McDonalds in Carson City for coffee and English muffins and then set out on our journey.  The drive to Tahoe was incredible.  All around us were mountain and canyons. The drive took about an hour and a half total and the whole time we were blown away by the scenery.  I took these pictures from inside the car.  We arrived at the trail-head about 8:30. I did a little research before our trip and the advice was to start early.  First, because parking is limited, second, because the sun gets so hot, and third, because the trail can get pretty crowded.   When we arrived at the trail-head we were one of about 10 cars. There were a few people starting around the same time as us, but by the time we filled out our hiking permit and took our starting picture...
