Lowery Wedding

Image
A few pictures of Josh and Brooke's Wedding.  It was wonderful. Finn and Sam "Fortnite" dancing. That is until we got ready to travel home and I realized that we needed to stop and get gas because the car was on empty.  The problem is that Michael's car has a gas tank with a lock on it.  Guess who didn't have the key.  Yep.  It was 10:30, I was in Cookville and Michael was at home in Gallatin with the key.  I waited around in Cookville for an hour for AAA to determine that they weren't going to help me because Michael's name is on our policy and Michael wasn't in the car with me.  And even if he was, since we were smack dab in the middle of COVID if they had to tow the car the boys and I couldn't ride with the tow truck driver because it was too dangerous for the driver.  So I guess they would take the car and leave us on the side of the road.  Makes sense.  We did learn that the closest locksmith was over an h

Surgeries

Well, if there is one thing that Begleys have in abundance it is surgeries.  This time Finn and Sam were able to join in the fun.  In May both Finn and Sam underwent tongue tie procedures.  They were both very tongue tied.  Poor Sam couldn't put his tongue on the roof of his mouth.  He also snored terribly for a child.  In fact, the dentist told us that Sam was headed for CPAP machine.  Since the procedures took place during COVID, we were limited in who was able to go back into the room.  Finn went back by himself. (This is why I don't have any pictures of Finn).  The hygienist told us Finn got so worked up that they didn't think that they were going to be able to do the procedure.  But, she was able to help him breath through it.  Next it was Sam's turn.  True to form, Sam handled it like a champ.  He did start to wiggle just a little bit.  I guess their anxiety dog noticed that Sam was feeling a bit anxious and hopped up in his lap.  It was so sweet.  It calmed

Sweatmanville

Image
Every year 2nd Graders at Davidson Academy build, from the ground up, a community called "Sweatmanville."  This is named after their most excellent teacher, Mrs. Sweatman.  This is a very large project. They came together as a class via Zoom and brainstormed ideas as to what buildings, stores, and services their town would need.  Mrs. Sweatman asked the children to raise their hand if they an idea they would like to share.  Sam's hand shot up like a jack-in-the box. Mrs. Sweatman called on Sam saying "Sam, what do you think Sweatmanville needs?"  Sam responds, "we need a bar and grill."  I wanted to crawl under the floor.  I was expecting my sweet Sam to saying thing like a school, church or courthouse.  But nope - he finds to be most essential a bar and grill.  Ms. Sweatman's face looked to be a mixture of stunned and amused.   Anyway, when the class assignments came out - Sam was assigned the County Courthouse. Fitting wouldn't you say

Covid Easter

Image
Well, for the first time in my 39 years, I spent Easter Sunday at home.  On the day before Easter Sunday we traveled to Nana and Papa's house for an epic egg hunt.  This is the first time we have ever had an egg hunt at Nana and Papa's.  We usually spend Easter Sunday at the Begley's. But due to Covid, things were different this year.  So, on Easter Sunday morning we got up, made coffee and we celebrated the resurrection together in Nana and Papa's living room. It rained really hard that day and we got home to a creek that had risen a little too high for our comfort.

The Pandemic - In General

Image
I love this picture. Mostly, because Troy Barnes is one of my favorite TV characters. 2020 has been wierd. I haven't even really wanted to blog about it.  I have thought about it as much as I care to.  But, I know that when enough time has passed I won't feel so fatigued whenever I hear words like "quarantine" or "mask" or "COVID".  When the boys are older, we may even have a good laugh about our time home together.  So for posterity, I think that it is important that I suck it up and least try to blog about what I can sitting here in July remembering what took place.  It all started on March 13, 2020. It was a Friday and we had several meetings scheduled at Juvenile Court.  We an Attorney Work Group Meeting, a meeting with our elected officials and a meeting with our county and state judges.  The day kept getting stranger and stranger as I learned that we were going to be limiting access to the Courts for almost three weeks.  We are t
