The "Finnster, et al."

Monday was a stay at home day with the fellas.  Not a whole lot of note took place.  Lots of straightening up.  I learned Monday that my sweet mother-in-law hired Lois to clean our house for the next few weeks to help out while Michael is down with his ankle.  Thank you Deniece - this has been so much help!  Well, the boys did help much at all.  Instead, they wanted to watch Tangled.  For the most part Finn and Sam sat together and watched the movie.  After Sam went down for his nap, Finn stumbled on Toy Story 3.  He asked me to sit and cuddle with him and watch.  Unfortunately for me and my raging hormones (new birth control) the movie was almost at the end - spoiler alert - the little boy grows up, goes off to college and plays with his toys one last time before giving them to another little girl.  This is a seriously touching movie - especially for mothers with little boys.  True to form, I sobbed uncontrollab...

Every night Sam sleeps with his "soft bunny" a.k.a. "mini trash."  On Sunday morning Sam wouldn't put the bunny down so he ate breakfast with mini-trash.   Finn asked for muffins for breakfast.  Since the boys find it appropriate to get up at the crack of dawn on the weekends I had plenty of time to make muffins for breakfast.   We spent much of our day on Sunday laying around the house.  It was a little overcast, Michael is injured and I was tired so we vegged most of the day.  This meant that we had tons of time to read.     Sam is such a joy to read to.  One of his favorites is "How Do Dinosaurs Clean Their Rooms?"  There is a certain part where Sam will help us out.  It goes, "does he (the dinosaur) hide his old jammies behind bathroom doors?"  To which Sam answers "NO!"  (the book reads the same).  It is so cute.   He has also learned that the opposite of sad is ...

On Saturday Pa came into the town to do his taxes with Gran.  After taxes Michael and Finn met Gran and Pa at Toys-R-Us.  Sam and I stayed behind for naps.  Finn's sweet Pa gave him total run of the place.  When they got home later in the day Finn showed me all of his (and Sam's) new toys.  He got some monster trucks, a stop sign (he begged for the stop sign) balls, books (Including "Little Blue Truck" which we love) and an Arctic Cat - complete with a shovel! Once the battery was charged Finn took it out for a test drive.  He let Sam ride shotgun.  At first Sam thought it was pretty cook - but once Finn started "spinning out" Sam was terrified. Next Gran, Sam and I went to Kroger to buy steaks for dinner.  When we got home Gran and I cooked while the boys played. On Friday the boys and I stayed home all day.  Upon getting out of bed Finn asked "are we staying home all day on this day?"  The phrase "on this day" is how Finn says "today."  I told him yes and he then asked if he could have pancakes for breakfast.  I made pancakes for both Finn and Sam. After breakfast Finn came up to me and said "mom, I made something for you."  He handed me a glass full of diet coke.  I was impressed that Finn was able to get one of the glasses out of the cabinet and I was more impressed that he was able to pour an entire glass out of a two (2) liter bottle without spilling.  He was so excited that I decided I would take a drink before I told him that he is to never do that again.  Well, I took a big drink out of the glass expecting to taste diet wild cherry pepsi.  Instead, I got a mouthful of maple syrup.  It was awful.  It looked just like coke too.  The lesson - never eat or drink anything ...

On Thursday I met Gran at Gymboree to do some shopping with Gran for the boys summer clothes.  We had a great time and had so much fun.  Then we met poor hobbling Michael at Sopapillas for lunch.  Afterwards Michael and I went to tour Hendersonville Christian Academy in Gallatin.  It was so cute and quaint; I really like it. Next we picked the boys up at met Gran at Davidson Academy.  Davidson in a word is awesome.  I was so impressed with their facility and everything they offer the kids.  Finn was a little less impressed.  I think he was intimidated by the size of the building.  He also thought we were going to leave him alone.  As we were walking into the Art Room Finn broke into tears in the hallway.  I felt so bad for him.  It started very quietly, I could see that he was about to cry, but he was trying to hold it in.   When we made eye contact with him those little tears just started spilling out.  We tri...

Wednesday night I got a strange phone call from Michael; he asked if I could get an ice pack and a couple ibuprofen ready for him.  Check it out . . .   He went to the doctor Thursday morning and came home with a boot, a pressure sock and a pair of crutches.  Looks like he will be out of commission for approximately two months. 

 On Monday the boys spent the morning with Gran, Sharon and Uncle David.  I had to be in court for both the morning docket and the afternoon docket.  Here they are watching Super why and reading books before leaving for the day.  The morning docket ended around 11:00 so I bought a Lean Cuisine at Kroger and went to Gran's house to have lunch with the boys before returning for the afternoon docket.  When I walked in the backdoor Finn took one look at me and said, "mom, why are you here?  Go home."  I didn't see much of Finn during lunch - he was having way to much fun hanging out in den with Uncle David.  Sam, on the other hand, took one look at me and came running yelling "mommy!"  Such a sweet little guy.   Sam sat in his highchair and ate bologna and shredded cheese for lunch.  Midway through the meal Sharon looked down and noticed that Sandy had a trail of shredded cheese along her back.  We started watching ...
