Happy Birthday Sinn
Saturday was Finn's birthday party. He spent the night before with Gran so that I could get some work done before the party. I did some wrapping, some cooking and some decorating before the party started. Grandad and Gigi came over early to help with some of the set up. Gran brought Finn over around 9:30 and helped with the food.
Finn wanted a "Ninja Turtles" party. I did my best to oblige. We had Ninja Turtles plates, cups, napkins, centerpieces, table clothes and banners. We also served Ninja Turtles food - pizza (of course) and ooze (green jello). In addition we had green Cool Aide, Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream (because it was green) and green cake.
Since it was such a nice day (perfect weather - the best weather we have ever had for one of Finn's parties) we had most of the party outside. The kids played outside on the swing set and in the bouncy house for most of the party. Finn and Sam had a great time together before Finn's friends arrived.
We even managed to get a few family shots before the madness began.
In attendance at the party was Micah, Haley Beth, Ethan, Addison, Ella, Gavin and Griffin. Finn played with all of his friends. Sam was a little scared of the bouncy house at first - but Grandad got him use to it. At one point Sam accidentally fell out of the bouncy house straight onto his back. Sam looked over and said, "I'm okay."
A few pictures of the "goings on" at the party.
Even though I had set the table up for the kids to eat outside - Finn wanted to eat inside.
The green jello was a huge hit with the kids.
Next it was time for presents. . .
As usual, once Finn ripped into the first present it was free for all. Addison was a huge help. After Finn opened a present Addison took it from him and sat it neatly in a pile - safe from the mob. Finn received some great gifts - lost of Ninja Turtle gear, cute clothes, a "Theo" movie, and Play-Doh to name a few. The swing set was also a birthday present for Finn from Grandad and Gigi.
After presents we had cake. We ordered the cake from Kroger Marketplace over the phone. Michael picked up the cake before the party. It was a green cake with yellow writing that was supposed to read Happy Birthday Finn. Upon closer look I saw that it actually read, "Happy Birthday Sinn." This is the last time that I will order a cake over the phone. We had a good laugh and served it anyway.
Next the kids played outside again. Grandad brought silly string and sprayed all the kids.
After all of Finn's friends left we let Finn open a few of the presents that we bought for him. He opened a "Ratatouille" video game and a Ninja Turtle bow. We also got Finn a big turtle shell to wear on his back. The shell has a special place for Finn to store his weapons. When he opened he said "bless my heart." We strapped his shell on him and he pretended to be a ninja until nap time.
Next Gran and I took Sam to the pediatrician's office to have his burn looked at. Earlier in the week Sam touched my curling iron and got a quarter sized burn on his wrist. They gave us some ointment and bandages to treat the burn and then headed back to the house.
By the time we got home I was exhausted and decided to take a nap with Finn. We slept for a couple of hours until Michael came and told us that Aunt Chelsea was here to see Finn. She came after school to give Finn his present. She also played in the bouncy house with the boys.
Overall it was a great birthday party. Finn was happy with his party and that I was my only goal. Before bed Finn came over and hugged me and said, "thank you mom, for all of my presents. I am so thankful that he is mine.
Sam is completely partied out.
