Singing For His Supper

Image
You may not believe it, but Finn is starting to sing and it is the cutest thing in the world. Mind you he is terrible, tone deaf and completely off beat, but cute nonetheless. I do believe that Finn will be a musical little boy. He may be teased relentlessly as a young adult, but I hope he ends up in showchoir. Lately Finn has been singing in the back seat to his Thomas CD, he has also been singing with this Glo-worm. The other day while I was hanging up Finn's clothes I saw him standing with his arms in between the rails of his crib, pressing his Glo-worm and doing his best to hum along to "this old man." Lately Finn has shown an interest in the "Mickey Mouse March." Not the Mickey song from the new Mickey Mouse Club House show, but instead the old Mickey Mouse song. Take a look (it isn't until about 1:30 in - I couldn't upload the shortened version).

Saturday

This morning I slept until 11:00. I was happy to catch up on the extra sleep. Plus all the heaving the night before tuckered me out. When I did finally manage to join the land of living I just mainly moped around all day. I haven't taken a lot of pictures this week so I decided that I would follow Finn around with the camera. This is a picture of Finn fussing because I wouldn't let him look at the baby in the camera. This is how the incident progressed from bad to hopeless. We have become painfully aware of the fact that Finn can now reach items on top of the kitchen table, on top of the counters and on top of the bookshelves. Finn's interest in books has spanned to Mom and Dad's books as well. Finn has also learned to wait. When I need to run downstairs for just a second to get something I will look at Finn, hold one finger up and say, "one minute." As long as I say this we will not fuss when I leave him upstairs alone. He will also repeat "minu...

What a Difference a Year Makes

Image
About this time last year I took some pictures of Finn sitting in his rocking chair. He was just over 3 months old. This is Finn today. Finn is just over one year and four months (16 months). I am amazed at the difference. This Finn's blanket. He calls it "blink-it." Finn doesn't suck his thumb or take a pacifier, but really loves this blanket. Every night before we put Finn to bed we give it to him and he either puts in his mouth or right up next to his face. Every morning when it is time to get up, he will stand up in his crib, hold on the rail with one hand and hold the blanket with his other hand. The minute he sees me, he throws the blanket in the floor as hard as he can. I pick it up and put it back in the crib. Finn will grab it and try his best to get it out of the crib. It is a real treat when he is allowed to play with his blanket somewhere other than the crib. Hence the excitement. This is the biggest difference: Finn can now get off the rockin...

Snow

Image
Today we woke up to a blanket of snow on the ground. Michael was out of town, and I hated to but I want to take Finn out before it all melted. It took me about 25 minutes to get him ready and then we went out. It was really sunny so Finn could barely see a thing. I sate Finn down in the snow and he immediately started crying. Finn hated it. He stuck his hand down in the snow and then he cried harder. I think we were out about 6 minutes total. Later in the day Gran and Pa came over to hang with Finn so that I could get some work done. Finn watched Frosty the Snowman with Gran and then he went sledding in the backyard. Gran reported that Finn enjoyed the sledding when he thought someone was sledding with him, but cried when he realized that he was all alone on the sled. When he came in he had some hot chocolate. I can't stress enough how much Finn loves hot chocolate. He had two little cups and got it all over him. The hot chocolate was the best part of Finn's whole d...

Teething is the Pits!!!!

Image
Poor, poor Finn. Last night around 10:30 I went to check on Finn before bed as I always do, I opened the door and a what can only be described as an uber vomit smell radiated about the room. I assumed that it was my sour dough bread that had been left to rise in Finn (warmest room in the house) room was the culprit so I grabbed the bread, gave it a sniff and took it downstairs to bake. About 15 minutes later I went back in and noticed the same smell, I quietly walked over to Finn's bed and gently put dabbed my fingertips around on this sheets. I won't go into detail, but I have never seen so much vomit in my entire life. When I woke him up I almost cried. He was so pitiful. It was all over him in his hair, on his face on his jammies. I felt so sorry for him. He acted pretty scared when I woke him up so I had to hug on his for a few minutes which meant I was covered too. I gave Finn a bath and washed his hair twice. After the bath, I put on some new clothes which Fin...

World's Lousiest Mom

Image
Eating raisins Stacking blocks: He can stack about four (4) by himself. The other day he helped me stack twenty (20). Super exciting night; no joke. Reading my Sunday School lesson. I also require Finn to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at the table, in his high chair. This is where dad lets Finn eat his peanut butter sandwich. Or as Finn calls it "peedy butta." Now there's something to strive for. Well, I looked up today and realized it was Friday - where in the world has my week gone? I'll tell you where it has gone - to work. This has been the busiest week for me since starting my practice. I am thankful for the work, but I am pooped by the time I finally get to bed and night and forget to blog. I can't even possibly begin to remember all of the gross, interesting, sweet, cute and new things that Finn has done this week, especially in narrative form, so instead of sitting here all night trying I am going to hit the high points for my sake and try to do ...

The Weekend

Image
Finn had a big weekend. On Saturday Nana, Aunt Em and Cooper came to visit. In order to get Finn ready for his big visit I told him over and over than "Nana was coming to see him." Every time I said Nana, Finn would look at me and say "Papa." After Mom and Em got to my house we put the carseat in Mom's car and we all went to Chic-Fil-A for lunch. The boys sat right next to each other in the highchairs and laughed their heads off. First Coop would laugh, then then Finn would laugh. And it wasn't just a little giggle, it was the scrunch your face up, flail your arms about, straight from your gut sort of laugh. Near the end Finn caught on to the fact that we thought the boys were hilarious and then started forcing himself to laugh. I have never been a fan of the fake laughing, but this time it was cute. Finn ate a waffle fry for lunch and begged for a sip of my coke. After lunch we went across the street to go shopping at Home Goods. A...
