A New Sunday School

Image
On Sunday Finn tried out a new Sunday School class.  He went to church with Nana and Papa so he had to go to his very own "substitute" class for the day.  I just knew it would be a complete and utter disaster.  I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Finn did not cry when he was dropped off at class, but instead walked in a like a little gentleman.  I had a very serious talk with Finn before church whereby I explained to him that he was going to a "new" Sunday School but that he would still have a good time. When Sam and I arrived an hour later Jessica Turner stopped me in the hallway and told me that she had a cute new student in her class.  She said that Finn was very well behaved, that he didn't cry, and that he asked for the cookies on more than one occasion. Since Sam is vying for the role as "world best baby" I didn't think twice about taking him into the service with me.  You would know that he would get fussy during the special music. ...

The Gator

I have a great family.  On Tuesday Jerry and Tracey drove all the way down to Manchester to bring one of Rex's toys to live at Nana and Papa's house.  And it wasn't just any ol' toy - it was a "Finn and Cooper" sized Gator.  After leaving Deanna's house we went to visit Nana and Papa's house.  When we got there we saw the Gator waiting in the front yard.  Finn got onto the Gator and did his best to take off.  He wasn't particularly smoothe - he would take his foot off the petal and put it back on.  He would go jerking around the yard.  He wanted for one of us to ride in the back so we had to explain to him that we were too big.  Instead, we put Sam in the back.  Poor child probably has whip-lash. Next, Finn decided that he wanted to ride in the back of the Gator.  He didn't quiet understand that we were too big to drive him around.  When we realized that the bed of Gator tilted (like a dump truck) he started putting grass...

Aunt Deanna

After leaving Grandad and Gigi's we went to Deanna's parent's home in Tullahoma to visit.  I told Finn that if he was really good at Deanna's we would get some ice cream.  I can only report that Finn gave it his best shot.  He wasn't great - but he was at least sweet.  He kept asking if he could go downstairs and play with the toys.  I had to keep telling him that there weren't any toys and that he would just have to sit still.  Instead, he emptied the diaper bag, throwing diapers (clean, thankfully) all over Mrs. Marie's living room.  Sam and I at least had a great visit.  It was first time for Sam and Deanna.  When she held him he just looked at her and smiled.  Deanna was my best friend through middle school and up.  We were also roommates in college and keep in touch now that we are old women.  I miss Deanna but I am glad that we were able to catch up even for a short time.

Acorns and Pinecones

On Friday the boys and I got a great surprise - Emily and Hank came to see us!  Em was shopping in the area and stopped by for a visit.  Finn was very excited.  He wanted to show his Aunt Em all of his toys.  Hank showed absolutely no interest in me until I brought my oatmeal over.  When he saw it he started scooting towards me smacking his lips - he is so cute. Around noon we left for our big adventure to Coffee County.  Before embarking on the journey we stopped to get the car washed.  Finn loves getting the car washed.  We pretend that we are getting eaten by an octopus and then sinking to the bottom of the ocean.  I am really setting this child up for night terrors.  Finn doesn't care for the vacuuming part at all - probably because he is still strapped in while I vacuum and I accidentally sucked his shirt up.   Sam slept through the entire thing.  Next we went to visit Michael at his office. On the way Finn decided tha...

Easter 2012

First, let me say it is really hard to worship on Easter Sunday when you have a new baby and sick toddler.  Thankfully God knows exactly what he is doing and allows us to worship in the most common ways.  Every time I look at my boys I am reminded of how wonderful the Lord is and how thankful I am that he died for my sins and how blessed I am that he entrusted me with Finn and Sam - stinkers though they may be :) This morning Finn slept until 8:00 - first sign that something wasn't quite right.  After eating one bite of his breakfast he went back upstairs, crawled in bed with Michael and slept until 9:30 - that is just down right weird.  Third, he whined the rest of the morning.  This is not uncommon for Finn, but coupled with the other two I started to think that he wasn't feeling well.  On Easter Sunday morning we always go to chruch with Gran.  The congregation meets at the Senior Citizen Center.  The Center has two big ajoining ...
