The "Finnster, et al."

Today Finn and I did nothing - nothing what-so-ever. After breakfast Finn and I fell asleep on the couch until around 11:00 ish when Michael surprised us both when he came home for lunch with Qdobas . After lunch Finn and I accidentally fell back asleep until 4:00 ish . While it was nice to snuggle with Finn all day, I felt absolutely disgusting when I woke up. After waking up, I let Finn try out his new swing. Finn had a different swing for the first few weeks, but after trying out the swing at Nana's house there was no going back. He really likes his new swing, it is cuddly, comfy and has great music. The old swing was nice too but it didn't look nearly as comfortable and the music sounded like it should be in an adult movie. The new swing plays 10 classical songs, which of course, makes me cry. The swing also has a cute little mobile, which Finn couldn't care less about. Today was a big day for Finn. At about 7:30 in the morning Finn's aunt Lauren came to visit him while his Mama went to the dentist. Even though Lauren claims to know nothing about babies she did a great job. Next, Finn and I went to MJ's house to pick up Em and Coop. The four of us went to Franklin to pickup Cooper's new Christmas outfit (so cute). By the time we got home Michael was back from Knoxville and got to spend the afternoon with us. During this time, Michael put together Finn's new swing. He put it together backwards twice - but don't tell him I said so :) Then we all went to Chris and Regina's for bible study. We are currently studying Proverbs. Finn was awake through the entire study. He was fairly good - but made some whiny noises. Last Saturday Finn truly smiled at me for the first time while I was singing "My Little Buttercup" from the Three Amigos. Today I put it to the test again . . . . Please excuse my singing. This isn't a blog/post about a specific day but instead just a little something extra.

Today Finn had some tummy time. They instructed us at the hospital to give Finn tummy time everyday. Well, I haven't exactly done a great job at ensuring that Finn gets his daily dose of "tummy time" so I decided today was as good a day as any to start - Finn disagreed. He didn't particularly like tummy time because he couldn't hold his head up. Mostly he just laid nose straight into the floor - it was rather comical. But all was not lost - I ended up propping him in his boppy and he did better . . . not great . . . but better. Later we met Shelley and her daughter Macey T (my nickname for her) for lunch. Macey T and Finn were born two days apart in the same hospital. They stayed in the nursery together, visited each other's rooms and had pictures taken together. Today Michael and I gave Finn his first "submerged" bath in the kitchen sink. I was a little nervous about putting him in the water up to his chin because he really didn't care for his sponge baths. At first he seemed a little unsure and I thought he was going to wail, but once we got him totally in the water he seemed very happy. I presume being in the tub is a lot like being in the womb. Tonight was also the first night of Finn's schedule. We are attempting to get him on regular schedule so hopefully he will sleep through the night. So after his bath we lotioned him up (he hates lotion), fed him, swaddled him (with the new swaddler Coop gave us - Finn is really starting to see the benefits of having an older and more experienced cousin) and put him in the bassinet at 10:00 (Finn's bedtime). He woke up at 1:30 a.m. to eat and then again at 6:00 a.m. Not bad, but I would prefer that he skip the 1:30 feedings. PS: I really recommend the swaddler. Swaddling with a ...

Today Finn and I met Regina and Micah for a walk out at the trails of Indian Lake. Since the night before was really cold, I assumed that it would be really chilly during our walk. As such I bundled Finn up to the point he couldn't move. My aunt Laura would be so proud. As it turns out it was really nice outside and I, for one, burnt up. Luckily, Finn didn't seem too hot. I was rather tickled looking at him dressed for snow storm. When we got back, Em and Coop came to visit. We went to Panera and Target. After we got back to the house I made some dinner and Michael and I watched Dexter. Then Finn and I fell asleep on the couch where we stayed the rest of the night.

Well, today Finn went to Sunday School with me. I was nervous to take him with me, but since Michael and I both teach, and he is too little to go to the nursery one of us had to take him. In order to protect him I strapped him into the baby carrier and covered him up with a blanket. Luckily it was fall break and I only had three girls in my class. It is pretty safe to say that Finn didn't learn anything during Sunday School. Not because he is too little to comprehend anything, but because my lesson was a little sub par. When we got home I made chili and we spent some time with James and Chelsea. At one point James and Michael left to go get a microphone so that they communicate over the Internet while playing warcraft - to each his own I guess. In the last few days Finn has become a little heater! We will lay together and the two of us will drenched in sweat. Sometimes I have to strip him down to his diaper. He seems to enjoy being almost naked, that is unless I am changing his dia...
