The "Finnster, et al."

Last Tuesday, as I was going through Sam's school folder, I found a "disciplinary report."  The report informed me that Sam refused to take a nap.  The teacher indicated that every disciplinary tactic that the school can use failed and that Sam's only reaction was to smile incessantly. The report went on to say that Sam refused to stay in his bed, that he yelled (with the purpose of waking the other students), and that he kicked the wall.   I was mortified.  I have had experience with the whole "smiling routine" and it is infuriating. After giving it some thought, I decided to try bringing "soft bunny" to school.  So on Wednesday morning, I loaded Finn, Sam and "soft bunny" into the car and we headed to school. On the way to school I asked Sam, "are you going to be a good boys at school today?"  Sam very curtly replied, "no." I then asked, "why Sam?"  He stated, "because." Then he said what sh...

On the way home from the boy's school this afternoon, the phone rang.  I was pretty engaged in the conversation, but I could still hear a bit of grunting and sounds of struggle coming from the back seat.  After hanging up the phone, I happened to look back to see Finn sitting bare chested - just as happy as could be.  All that struggling I heard was Finn trying his best to take his shirt off over his seat belt.   When we got home from school Finn asked to color.  It wasn't too long before Finn comes running into the den letting me know that was "King Kong."  He had even colored himself to look like King Kong . . . .  sort of.  It kinda sends a mixed message to children when you get on to them for coloring all over their body and then in the next breath ask them to pose for a picture. During baths tonight Finn and Sam played "tea party" again.  While playing tea party Finn said, "did you know that Jesus turned water into juice?" ...

Well, I think that we have made it past all the sickness.  On Friday morning I woke up super nauseous and remained nauseous the rest of the day.  I fell asleep right after Michael got home from work and didn't do much the rest of the night.  I did allow the boys to put smiley face stickers all my feet. On Saturday I woke up to find that Finn had made a sticker path all the way through the kitchen and den.  I still felt pretty crummy so I let it go.  At 8:30 I made a conscious decision to feel better so I got up and started cleaning.  It was at this point that I started tackling the stickers.  Since they were close to impossible to get up, I made Finn help me.  Finn learned that it wasn't nearly as much fun cleaning up stickers as it was putting down sticker.  Lesson learned. Monday was a snow day for the boys - all the boys; even Michael was home for half a day.  As expected, Finn came running into our room Monday morning asking when he could get up.  I got the joy of telling Finn it was a snow day.  He was so excited! Since I knew that I wouldn't be getting any work done, I decided to clean up a bit.  While I was cleaning off the kitchen table, Finn hopped up on his stool and started washing dishes.  He stood on that stool and sang and washed for at least thirty minutes.  He actually did a really good job. The rest of the day was pretty calm.   I have posted a few pictures from Tuesday morning.  

Well, I have to say it . . . pride most certainly does before a fall.  On our trip to Pigeon Forge, I made the biggest deal about how my kids NEVER get sick. A midst all the bragging about my children, I also managed to throw in how I NEVER get sick either.  Well . . . when I went to pick the boys up from Dad's I was informed that both of my children threw up while I was away. When I got home I was feeling fine.  Midway through a conversation with Michael, I looked at him and said, "I think I might get sick later tonight."  Sure enough around midnight I was sick too. On Thursday night I went to Mom and Greg's house - we were getting prepared for our girl's trip to Pigeon Forge.  Before we left Greg took us all to Logan's for dinner. We got an early start that next morning.  We were all up by 6:00 and taking our "starting" picture by 7:15ish. After our starting picture we all hopped in the car.  Preggers sat in the front and I sat in the backseat with my blanket (just in case preggers froze me out). Our first stop was in Sparta where we all bought polar fleece lined leggings.  I have them on now - they are are so comfortable. Next we stopped at the big mall in Knoxville, where mom found a shirt at Ann Taylor and I bought some body splash.  Then we went on a scavenger hunt for lunch.  We ended up stopping at "Zoe's Kitchen" were I had a salad that Emily though tasted like dirt. Next it was on to Pigeon Forge.  We arrived at The Christmas Inn a little after check in time.  It is the most wonderful...

Well, from now on, the Begley family will be going to both Sunday School and Service at night.   Our first night.
