Buddy Walk 2013

Image
This morning Finn woke up with a terrible, chest rattling cough.  I asked him, "Finn, do you have snot in your throat?"  He confirmed that he did. For the rest of the day he complained to anyone that would listen that he had boogers in his mouth.  This is how rumors get started.  He is champ though at coughing it up.  On more than on occasion Finn handed me quarter sized balls of green snot.  Today was the 2013 Buddy Walk.  The Boys and I left the house this morning a little after 9:00.  On our way Finn asked me, "when is God going to make me another baby?"  I told him that I didn't know.  He then told me that he wanted God to make him four babies.  I asked what we would name these babies and he said, "well, we'd name one baby Sam."  I reminded Finn that we already have a Sam.  Finn said, "well, we'll just have to call him baby."   After leaving our baby conversation Finn to...

Fingernails

On Thursday when I picked Finn up from school I was informed by his teachers that the fingernail on his middle finger was about to fall off.  Finn wasn't complaining about it so I didn't really think anything else about it until I went to pick him on Friday.  When I pulled in all the kids were playing on the play ground.  Finn spotted me and came running my direction.  As he was running I noticed that he was holding up the fingernail that was about to fall off.  Without knowning Finn gave everyone in the immediate vicinity a "hard" bird.  I couldn't help but laugh as he held that middle finger up for the world to see. Thank goodness for innocence.   When we got in the car I asked Finn if I could cut the fingernail off.  He started screaming and crying "please don't cut my finger off."  Finn's tears started to rub off on Sam who up until that point was in an excellent mood.  Sam looked horrified for Finn and then started "fake crying." ...

Ratatouille for Real

This morning Finn branched out at breakfast time.  Instead of his usual bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios Finn had Rice Krispy's.  When I told him about Rice Krispy's he said that he didn't like it.  I then told him that you can make cookies from Rice Krispy's - he was immediately on board.   I sat Finn down at the table and poured his bowl.  He looked at if for several minutes.  I finally asked Finn what he was doing.  He told me to come closer.  I leaned down close to his face and he said, "mom, I thought you said this was going to turn into a cookie."  Finn was just waiting for his cereal to transfigure into a cookie - a very reasonable line of thought. After dropping Finn off at school Sam and I went to Greenhills Mall to the Apple Store.  My phone has been messing up lately so I went to get it fixed (they actually just ended up giving me another one).  Sam was very well behaved in the store.  He played with "Grave Dig...

Cheating

Sam woke up in a rather foul mood this morning.  Nothing could make him happy but mama.  On a side note Sam has called me "mama" all day.  He never calls me mama - usually it mommy.  It sounds so sweet to hear a little boy call you mama.  Anyway, back to the point.  Sam was moody - any time I left the room Sam would cry his little eyes out.  It didn't get any better when I put Sam in the car.  As I was driving Finn to school Sam started demanding (rather rudely) milk.  I said, "Sam, how do you ask nicely?"  Sam was in no mood to compromise and he kept screaming for milk - receiving none of course.  Tired of the noxious noise in the backseat Finn decided to take matters in his own hand.  He leans over toward Sam and out of the side of his mouth whispers, "just say please."  I was watching Finn through the rear view mirror and didn't see his mouth move a centimeter.  He was determined it give Sam the right answer withou...

Sam

Image
Over the past six months I haven't had a whole lot of super nice things to say about Sam.  Don't misunderstand, I love Sam - but Sam can be a very trying little boy.  He is moody and loud and has a mini breakdown every night from 6:00 to 7:00.  He pitches the worst fits you can imagine and he is not a great listener. Sometimes I get so caught up with how difficult Sam can be that I neglect to documents how wonderful he can be.  Sam is a very sweet little boy.  He feels everything 100% - this includes love.  He is so excited when I come into his room to wake him up in the mornings.  He opens those sleepy little eyes and smiles at me from his crib.  Then he wraps his arms around me and says "MOMMY!" Sam is also a hugger.  On a regular basis he runs up to me arms wide open and says "hug."  Tonight he got into a hugging mood in the parking lot at Staples.  He put both arms around my ...

Sunday was great day because it felt like Fall.  Both the boys wore long pants to church. They were also in great moods most of the day.  I love when Sam really smiles! After picking the boys up from Sunday School we went home and ate pizza.  Both of my kids love pizza.  Finn's appreciation for pizza has grown significantly since discovering ninja turtles.  In fact, he felt so strongly about turtles and pizza that he ate while wearing his "bo staff" (as Finn calls it).   What's in your wallet?  I couldn't resist.   Sam ended up taking a lousy nap so we (Sam and I) went to the store.  Michael and Finn went to Academy Sports and somehow or the other ended up at Toys-R-Us where Finn played with a "Despicable Me" fart gun.  They came home with a "Snake Weed."  Finn was so excited.  Michael made him earn it though.  Finn spent the rest of the evening helping me clean the house.  He did a great ...

Shuckle's Corn Maze - 2013

Image
On Saturday met Gran at Shuckle's Corn Maze right down the road.   Our first stop was at the pumpkin patch.  I think this might have been Sam's favorite part.                                             Next we hit the petting zoo.  The goats really liked me.  Finn and Sam were fairly timid around the goats.  Next we went through "some" of the maze.  I same "some" because after a lot of walking and having no idea how close we were to the end we decided to turn around.  Finn liked the maze - mostly because he let him be "the leader."   The last stop was the giant slide.  Fin rode it four times.  This thing was huge, enclosed and really fast.
