ABCs

Last night Finn spent the night with Gran and Pa while his mother and father had a date night (we celebrated Valentine's Day). We had a great time . . . we went to Fulins, we watched a romantic comedy and then at 10:00 we got back out for ice cream - something we haven't been able to do since Finn was born.

While we were hanging out at home Finn was great time at Gran and Pa's.

He played with the blocks

He played with the cars. I believe these are Michael, David and James' old cars.

He sat "strawberry" yogurt

He carried a basket around - after emptying it of course.

He learned how to comb his hair like a man

He colored

And he played outside wearing one of his Dad's old sweaters.

The next morning Michael and I both slept until we woke up naturally. At around 11:00 we got a call from Gran telling us that Finn wasn't feeling well. Around 1:00 in the morning he spiked a fever. He woke up crying and really didn't get a lot of sleep the rest of the night. Gran told me that when he was crying, he was crying for me - it broke my heart.

After we picked him up we brought him home and sat on the couch and watched Mickey. Then Finn did the unfathomable - we took a 3 and half hour nap. Alert the Press! I went up to check on him several times to make sure he was alive. I guess it was the combination of not feeling and well and not sleeping much the night before.

After he woke up he played for a while. Then Finn did something truly unexpected. He started singing his ABCs. Mom (Nana) gave Finn a little music table for Christmas that sings the alphabet song. Now granted he only really sings from "T" through "Z" (not sure why), but he did sing. Now, he couldn't say all the letters perfectly, but he had all the sounds correct and the tempo was spot on. I was shocked, but I fully expect this to be a one time event. Then, when we were putting on his jammies he started saying a three syllable word over and over again. It sounded like he was saying "ABC." I looked over to where he was pointing and saw his ABC book.

In other news, Finn has transitioned from "dada" to "daddy." It is so precious.
