Happy 29th MJ
Today is Emily’s birthday so we met Emily, Zac, Cooper, Hank
and Nana and Papa at Jim and Nicks. We
had a great time and the boys were pretty good too. Sam slept the entire time and Finn switched
back and forth between stuffing his face with muffins and running his cars through
his grilled cheese and French fries.
Our server - also named Finn.
When supper was over we went back to Zac and Em’s for cake. When Mom brought the cake out Emily showed Finn how to eat icing by running his fingers around the bottom edge of the cake. After cake Emily opened her presents and we took a few pictures.
At the end of the night Emily asked if Finn could take home
some cake. I her told it was fine. Zac told Finn that if he wanted to take cake
home he would have to give Zac one of his cars.
Finn looked so torn. He finally
laid his car on the coffee table and walked off. He looked like he was about to cry. You can’t say he didn’t make an informed
decision.
Phraseology of the Finnster:
- On going to bed: Upon arriving home after the birthday party Finn looks at me and says, “put me to bed!” (We got home after 9:00 and Finn was really tired.) As we were walking up the stairs Finn said, “No bible story tonight. It’s too late.”
- On praying: We are really trying to get Finn to start praying on his own. We will say “thank you God for . . .” and ask Finn finish the sentence. He finishes alright – he immediately says, “Amen.” After a bit of prodding he will take God for things – they usually involve fun things. Tonight when I asked Finn what he wanted to thank God for he said, for watching the Worax with Gran.” Gran took Finn to see the Lorax.
- On manners: Sunday on the way to church I burped and said, “excuse me Finn.” Finn then fake coughed and said, “excuse me too mom.”
