A New Era (6/26/10)

Today was a great day! Finn and I got up at around 6:30 and we both ate breakfast. After breakfast I took Finn upstairs while I walked on the treadmill. Normally when I walk on the treadmill I put in the den floor and let him play with this toiletry basket.



When I was about 90% finished walking I noticed that Finn was no longer sitting next to his basket, but instead he was crawling warp speed toward the treadmill. Okay, I may have exaggerated a little bit; he was making pretty good time.



Before I knew it Finn had made it to the treadmill and was attempting to put his fingers on the belt. Scared that he would get his hands caught in the belt I picked him up held him for the last part of my workout.



I was so excited to see Finn crawl, but more so I was thankful that I was able to be with him when he crawled for the first time. After I got off the treadmill we rushed into the bedroom to wake Michael up to tell him the good news. Next we returned to the site of our big accomplishment and practiced some more. The first thing Finn did was crawl toward the steps, go figure. Next he crawled back to the treadmill, immediately followed by the TV cabinet
Finn ended his tour at the bathroom door. Life as we know it is officially over!!! I can’t wait to start chasing him around.

The Wish List

On Tuesday we got the big "Toys-R-Us" catalog.  After supper Finn and Daddy sat at the kitchen table and Finn circled everything he wanted.  At first he wanted everything he saw - even girls toys.  Michael explained to him that he can only pick out a few toys.  He finally got the hang of it and had a really good time. On this particular evening we had spaghetti.  I made sure to feed Sam before we sat down to eat but It didn't matter at all.  The minute he smelled my spaghetti he went into freakout mode.  So I guess you could say that Sam had my spaghetti for dessert.  Both of my boys love spaghetti.  After ever few bites Finn would say under his breath, "this is so good." Later in the evening I crawled into the attic and pulled out Finn's old jungle activity center for Sam to play with.  Finn helped him figure it out.

The Weekend Before School Starts

Michael decided to give the boys one more fun family day before school started back up this fall. We called our close friends, loaded up in a couple of vehicles and headed to the Harpeth.  We decided to get two canoes.  Me, Will and Sam rode in one canoe and Michael shared the other with Finn.  I though that Sam would be my big helper - but it was actually Will.  Will paddled the entire time while Sam sat and took in the scenery.   We stopped midway down the river to hang out in the water for a while.  Near the end of the trip, the boys asked to ride together.  They had a ball, but they were terrible.  They zigzagged back and forth around down the river, cutting off unsuspecting canoers, yelling the entire time.  Thankfully, most people found them to be charming.

NSC

Since the boys have really started to enjoy soccer, we decided to take them to a Nashville SC match at Geodis Park. We had watched a few matches on MLS pass, so we were really excited to meet the Cox family at the park.  Before leaving Will and Sam made their own signs.  Will made a NSC sign and Sam made a Ronaldo sign.   The boys dressed as the United Nations for this particular game.  True to form, Sam was most excited about the game snacks.  He had his heart set on a game pretzel.  The match that we watched was against Toluca.  They lost.  A few weeks later, our family returned to watch the Minnesota match. It was a really exciting game.  They won 5-0.  The boys were freaking out. This one lost a tooth in the van on the way to the game.  Always a fun time.   I love Will's face in this picture.
