Little Shop of Horrors

Image
One of my favorite Broadway Musicals of all time is "Little Shop of Horrors." This year I was able to see it at HPAC with my good friend Kristina Howard and it did not disappoint.  "Feel the sturm and drang!" Audrey II was played not by a puppet plant, but instead by a man in drag - it was phenomenal!

To celebrate turning the BIG 1-0, Finn decided to take a few of his friends to Urban Air.  They had a great time. It was Dash, Brando, Finn, Sam and Will.

Salt Dough

Image
Second Graders at DA this year studied land formations this year in Social Studies. As a grand finale they made "salt dough" land formations. This caused quite the stir around our house as were responsible for making our own salt dough to send to school. The day before it was it due, Sam and I gathered our cooking supplies, sat in the floor, and I let him measure everything out.  It like moths to an open flame with Finn and Will. They could handle the fact that Sam was getting to make salt dough and they just had to sit and watch.  They too, wanted to make own their salt dough to play with. Sam's smug smile tells you all you need to know about the outcome.   This was is how Sam's project turned out. They formed, kilned and painted at school.

Zookeeper Day

Image
This year for Homecoming (2019), DA had a Disney Animal Kingdom ZooKeeper Day. The kids could either dress as a zookeeper or an animal.  Sam had all the proper attire to go a zookeeper, through he looks more like he is dressed for the wilds of Australia.  Finn went a Mickey Mouse. Sam tickles me so much with his facial expressions and body language.  He doesn't hold anything back. On this same day, Finn's class lead worship during Chapel time and Finn played the piano for his class to sing. Later that night we went to celebrate "National Pancake Day" at IHOP. Then stopped next door at the Dollar General to get some snacks and spray in hair color for the Homecoming Game.  The boys had a great time playing with all the Halloween gear.

Game Ball

Image
This year Finn played for the Gallatin Green Wave Fall Ball Little League team.  To say that Finn has improved would be the understatement of the year.  Last year was Finn's first year to play.  He learned a lot about how to play baseball but he went straight into kid-pitch and had a really hard time with batting. So while he was technically pretty sound for nubby,  he was scared to death of hitting.  Well, this year, Finn conquered his fear not only got many good hits, he got several BIG hits. Below is  a picture of Finn and coach Blane after he won the "Game Ball."  Finn came to bat with two outs. Finn drove in couple of runs and ultimately helped his team win the game. I have never seen Finn so happy in my life.  He was so proud.     This was us at Finn's last game of the Season. It was freezing!
