Finn’s Piano Recital

During the last week of school, Finn had his first piano recital.  By this point he had been taking piano from Mrs. Odom for 4 months.  She selected "The Circle of Life" from the Lion King for Finn's piece.  He was so nervous!  He didn't really admit he was nervous, but I could tell.  Luckily he was second on the program, so he didn't have to sit with his nerves for too long.









He did a really good job.  He sat at that piano with confident posture and beautiful hands. He hit a rough patch during the middle of the song. I was afraid that he might panic and and never recover.  But he kept his composure and finished strong.



This was Will's expression the entire time Finn played. Immediately after Finn's performance, Will decided that he didn't want to sit still anymore so we spent the rest of the night in the foyer.

After the show, we took the boys to Dairy Queen for ice cream.  Earlier that day I made a home movie of Will sitting on the steps.  Before I realized it, he slapped my camera.  He thought this was hilarious. While at Dairy Queen I showed him the video of himself disobeying.  He thought this was great.  I wish I could describe how hard he laughed at himself.  It was so cute.  We let him watch several times just so that we could hear him laugh.

Today we woke up at 6:30 to prepare for our big day at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. The shuttle from the hotel left for the park at 8:00 meaning that we had to be downstairs and ready to go at 7:45. At 7:30 we realized that we had to book our spot on the shuttle the night before. Oops. For two people with jobs requiring close attention to detail we completely fall apart in our personal life. Fortunately we were able to purchase a ticket and catch the 8:00 shuttle anyway. The shuttle ride was interesting; we ended up sitting behind a young couple that could have left about 90% of their PDA in their hotel room and it still would have been too much for my taste. When we got to the park we noticed our ticket required that we show I.D. Well, I didn't bring my purse with me. Oops. After reading and rereading the fine print, we lawyerly types figured out an interpretation that would allow me to get into the park without producing photo i.d. We geared up for the fight

High Ankle Sprain

Wednesday night I got a strange phone call from Michael; he asked if I could get an ice pack and a couple ibuprofen ready for him.  Check it out . . .   He went to the doctor Thursday morning and came home with a boot, a pressure sock and a pair of crutches.  Looks like he will be out of commission for approximately two months.

Sunday

On Sunday morning we slept until 9:30!  Finn was up with the sun, of course, but Sam slept until a little after 9:00. When we got up the sun was shining so we decided to hang the boys gourd bird house from Mr. Gene.  So far we have really enjoyed going to church on Sunday night.  Finn specifically told me that he likes night church better because he can get up and play.  The boys had a pajama party at school today.  It was in honor of Ms. Jenn's last day before maternity leave.  Finn was very excited to show his friends his godzilla feet. Big morning for Finn.  Last night was the first night that we have not put a nighttime pull-up on Finn.  He woke up with a dry bed!
