Being Practical

Today Finn went into the kitchen and grabbed a pot holder and took it up to his kitchen so that he could get some food out of the oven.  So practical.

When I went downstairs to get the camera I came up to find Finn taking Sam's order.

Even though it is Saturday I had to meet with a client. Michael was in Chattanooga helping David and Sharon move out of their apartment so the boys went to spend a few hours with Gran.  When I picked them up I found them all in the den watching Veggie Tales. Finn did everything he could think of to stall - he didn't want to go home.  We put together puzzles and read books.  Finn even had a great trip to the toilet so Gran gave him a Roaul Caroul car.

When we got home Finn took a two and half our nap.  Sam and I ended up snuggling together on the couch and caught a nap too.

Kids say the darndest things: 

1. On the way to Gran's Finn was lamenting about the scrape on his knee. I asked him if he needed a Band-Aid. Through whimpers he then told me the following:  "my doctor hurt Sam, but then she gave him a Band-Aid and he was better.  I was shocked that he remembered - Sam got his shots over 5 weeks ago.

2. The other day Uncle James thought it might be fun to mess with me.  He asked Finn, "don't you want a dog."  Finn, without being prompted said, "No, I like kitty cats."  I hope this holds true.

Today we woke up at 6:30 to prepare for our big day at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. The shuttle from the hotel left for the park at 8:00 meaning that we had to be downstairs and ready to go at 7:45. At 7:30 we realized that we had to book our spot on the shuttle the night before. Oops. For two people with jobs requiring close attention to detail we completely fall apart in our personal life. Fortunately we were able to purchase a ticket and catch the 8:00 shuttle anyway. The shuttle ride was interesting; we ended up sitting behind a young couple that could have left about 90% of their PDA in their hotel room and it still would have been too much for my taste. When we got to the park we noticed our ticket required that we show I.D. Well, I didn't bring my purse with me. Oops. After reading and rereading the fine print, we lawyerly types figured out an interpretation that would allow me to get into the park without producing photo i.d. We geared up for the fight

High Ankle Sprain

Wednesday night I got a strange phone call from Michael; he asked if I could get an ice pack and a couple ibuprofen ready for him.  Check it out . . .   He went to the doctor Thursday morning and came home with a boot, a pressure sock and a pair of crutches.  Looks like he will be out of commission for approximately two months.

Sunday

On Sunday morning we slept until 9:30!  Finn was up with the sun, of course, but Sam slept until a little after 9:00. When we got up the sun was shining so we decided to hang the boys gourd bird house from Mr. Gene.  So far we have really enjoyed going to church on Sunday night.  Finn specifically told me that he likes night church better because he can get up and play.  The boys had a pajama party at school today.  It was in honor of Ms. Jenn's last day before maternity leave.  Finn was very excited to show his friends his godzilla feet. Big morning for Finn.  Last night was the first night that we have not put a nighttime pull-up on Finn.  He woke up with a dry bed!
