Hank's 2nd Birthday

Friday was a big, big day for the Begley boys.  At 8:00 Grandad came by to assemble Finn's swing set - or as Finn calls it "my playground."   Grandad and Gigi got Finn a swing set as an early birthday present.  It arrived last Friday.  Finn has been going out to the garage to look at the boxes for a week now.  He was so excited.  In the car he told me that he was going to invite JT, Addison, Caroline and Mason to play on his playground.

Well grandad got more than he bargained for.  Both Finn and Sam wanted to "help."  Finn spent his morning taking the hand-holds (for his rock wall) out of the bag (even though we were nowhere near ready for them) and walking them around to the backyard.

We started assembling everything in the garage.  Sam was so interested in the process.  He was in dad's face the entire time.  He picked up and examined everything; safe or not.



At 10:00 Sam went down for a nap - he slept until 1:30 which gave us plenty of time to work.  While Sam snoozed Finn played on the platform of the new swing set.  We didn't have the steps upet y so every five minutes or so Finn would ask us to either lift him up or get him down.

At 1:30 it started raining.  I went to get pizza while Dad built the custom made rock wall in the garage.

Later that evening we went to Hank's second birthday party at Em's church.  It was the perfect place for a kids party.  It was big open and carpeted gym. Finn and Sam ran around the entire time.  Finn played with Hank for a long time while Sam ran around trying to get a ball.  Every time he got close he would accidentally kick it and it rolled away from him.
 












After the party we went back to Em's house to open presents.  Mom got a present for Finn and had big bubble letters on the wrapping.  I asked Finn what the letter spelled.  He pointed at each letter and said, "F" "one" "N""N".  I will miss having a sweet little toddler around.

Today we woke up at 6:30 to prepare for our big day at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. The shuttle from the hotel left for the park at 8:00 meaning that we had to be downstairs and ready to go at 7:45. At 7:30 we realized that we had to book our spot on the shuttle the night before. Oops. For two people with jobs requiring close attention to detail we completely fall apart in our personal life. Fortunately we were able to purchase a ticket and catch the 8:00 shuttle anyway. The shuttle ride was interesting; we ended up sitting behind a young couple that could have left about 90% of their PDA in their hotel room and it still would have been too much for my taste. When we got to the park we noticed our ticket required that we show I.D. Well, I didn't bring my purse with me. Oops. After reading and rereading the fine print, we lawyerly types figured out an interpretation that would allow me to get into the park without producing photo i.d. We geared up for the fight

High Ankle Sprain

Wednesday night I got a strange phone call from Michael; he asked if I could get an ice pack and a couple ibuprofen ready for him.  Check it out . . .   He went to the doctor Thursday morning and came home with a boot, a pressure sock and a pair of crutches.  Looks like he will be out of commission for approximately two months.

Sunday

On Sunday morning we slept until 9:30!  Finn was up with the sun, of course, but Sam slept until a little after 9:00. When we got up the sun was shining so we decided to hang the boys gourd bird house from Mr. Gene.  So far we have really enjoyed going to church on Sunday night.  Finn specifically told me that he likes night church better because he can get up and play.  The boys had a pajama party at school today.  It was in honor of Ms. Jenn's last day before maternity leave.  Finn was very excited to show his friends his godzilla feet. Big morning for Finn.  Last night was the first night that we have not put a nighttime pull-up on Finn.  He woke up with a dry bed!
