Christmas with Grandad and Gigi

On Sunday night I took the boys to the interstate exit off of 109 for the exchange.  Grandad and Gigi agreed to take the boys for the night so that I could take down the tree and pack for Hawaii.








We met up with them the next day (Monday, December 23, 2013) at Grandad and Gigi's house. When we arrived supper was ready and the boys were already sitting nicely at the kids' table ready to eat.  After supper we opened presents from Gene and Minnie.  Sam got a Spider Bitz and Finn got a Krang.  They both got superhero bath towels too.

Before bed the kids watched a little bit of Despicable Me 2.  Then we put them to bed. Sam slept in the pack-n-play in our room and Finn slept in the bed with me and Michael.  The next morning Michael told me that it was one of worst nights sleep he has ever had.  Finn kept both of us really hot and Sam apparently talks in his sleep.

The boys were both up by 7:00.  I took them to Grandad and Gigi's room right after they woke up while I went downstairs to run on the treadmill.  While Uncle Zac was making pancakes and Grandad and Gigi made eggs and country ham, the boys posed for pictures.


 Breakfast was great - Sam ate breakfast sitting in my lap.  He had eggs and little bit of country ham.  He also ate a biscuit with a fork.  Finn sat by himself at the kids table and ate eggs and pancakes.

After breakfast we opened presents.  The most awesome present of the day was Sam's talking Leo.  Both Finn and Sam loved it.  Finn was very excited about his new games.


 Sam was very anxious to open presents.  He was awful before hand.  Once he started opening presents he calmed right down.

Today we woke up at 6:30 to prepare for our big day at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. The shuttle from the hotel left for the park at 8:00 meaning that we had to be downstairs and ready to go at 7:45. At 7:30 we realized that we had to book our spot on the shuttle the night before. Oops. For two people with jobs requiring close attention to detail we completely fall apart in our personal life. Fortunately we were able to purchase a ticket and catch the 8:00 shuttle anyway. The shuttle ride was interesting; we ended up sitting behind a young couple that could have left about 90% of their PDA in their hotel room and it still would have been too much for my taste. When we got to the park we noticed our ticket required that we show I.D. Well, I didn't bring my purse with me. Oops. After reading and rereading the fine print, we lawyerly types figured out an interpretation that would allow me to get into the park without producing photo i.d. We geared up for the fight

High Ankle Sprain

Wednesday night I got a strange phone call from Michael; he asked if I could get an ice pack and a couple ibuprofen ready for him.  Check it out . . .   He went to the doctor Thursday morning and came home with a boot, a pressure sock and a pair of crutches.  Looks like he will be out of commission for approximately two months.

Sunday

On Sunday morning we slept until 9:30!  Finn was up with the sun, of course, but Sam slept until a little after 9:00. When we got up the sun was shining so we decided to hang the boys gourd bird house from Mr. Gene.  So far we have really enjoyed going to church on Sunday night.  Finn specifically told me that he likes night church better because he can get up and play.  The boys had a pajama party at school today.  It was in honor of Ms. Jenn's last day before maternity leave.  Finn was very excited to show his friends his godzilla feet. Big morning for Finn.  Last night was the first night that we have not put a nighttime pull-up on Finn.  He woke up with a dry bed!
