The Burn Pile

Saturday was week two of Upward.  Week two was way less satisfying that week one.  Sam, while he did score several times, was sluggish and didn't seem to have any idea what was going on.  Finn, having gained some confidence from the prior week, became a black hole and didn't pass the ball.  He took some terrible shots too.  He also couldn't resist the urge to "help" Michael coach the team. When he was supposed to be sitting on the bench, Finn would wander over to where Michael was standing and try to yell out plays. I really wouldn't expect anything different from Finn.   Will was pretty good during both games - sitting in my lap the entire time.  In between games we had breakfast with the Browns.

We got home around 12:00 and we all took naps.



After their naps, the boys went outside and helped Michael with the burn pile.  It was still a bit too wet for pile to catch fire - but he did have a good amount of smoke. 


Since it was really warm Finn decided to go wading (then running) in the creek. He later told me it was one of the best days of his life. 



Later than evening the boys went with Gran to see Paw Patrol Live on State at TPAC.

Today we woke up at 6:30 to prepare for our big day at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. The shuttle from the hotel left for the park at 8:00 meaning that we had to be downstairs and ready to go at 7:45. At 7:30 we realized that we had to book our spot on the shuttle the night before. Oops. For two people with jobs requiring close attention to detail we completely fall apart in our personal life. Fortunately we were able to purchase a ticket and catch the 8:00 shuttle anyway. The shuttle ride was interesting; we ended up sitting behind a young couple that could have left about 90% of their PDA in their hotel room and it still would have been too much for my taste. When we got to the park we noticed our ticket required that we show I.D. Well, I didn't bring my purse with me. Oops. After reading and rereading the fine print, we lawyerly types figured out an interpretation that would allow me to get into the park without producing photo i.d. We geared up for the fight

High Ankle Sprain

Wednesday night I got a strange phone call from Michael; he asked if I could get an ice pack and a couple ibuprofen ready for him.  Check it out . . .   He went to the doctor Thursday morning and came home with a boot, a pressure sock and a pair of crutches.  Looks like he will be out of commission for approximately two months.

Sunday

On Sunday morning we slept until 9:30!  Finn was up with the sun, of course, but Sam slept until a little after 9:00. When we got up the sun was shining so we decided to hang the boys gourd bird house from Mr. Gene.  So far we have really enjoyed going to church on Sunday night.  Finn specifically told me that he likes night church better because he can get up and play.  The boys had a pajama party at school today.  It was in honor of Ms. Jenn's last day before maternity leave.  Finn was very excited to show his friends his godzilla feet. Big morning for Finn.  Last night was the first night that we have not put a nighttime pull-up on Finn.  He woke up with a dry bed!
